Welcome to Poet’s Corner

Hello! Welcome to poet’s corner! I’ve created a space to share poetry and to get your thoughts on the poetry. This is a space created for dialogue around art. So tell me…what do you think about this first poem? Any thoughts on what it’s about or the content? Below you’ll find this week’s poem.. tell me your thoughts on the piece in the comments!

CAUGHT BETWEEN

Caught between darkness and light
I’ve wondered how to keep the sun from falling
curtain color changes in plain sight
I’ve wondered how to stop bad thoughts from calling

Mind, restless, I toss and turn in my bed
between scratchy grey blankets,
entangled in dark world in my head

Familiar room, weakened
like wilted plants, without light
suddenly I’ve lost all ability
and I am blind

No flip of light switch
accustomed to darkness over me,
my thoughts – an overcoming wave
of uncertainty

Like black sky swallows sun
until there is no more sun
years from here I’ll gain strength
to rise like every dawn

To shift shadows with my light
I’ve more control than blanketing darkness
It can keep you blind
but I’ll rest in the softness
and continue to shine
