This week’s poem/song “Like an Animal”

Hey everyone!

(And stay tuned for next week’s talk about it)

Like an Animal

(when you’re in an institution)

From inside,

I stare at a sealed door

freedom taken

Like an animal, free no more

A girl caught in

rope of deranged

I never meant to stumble

An innocent wanderer

in a foreign range

transferred to a lonely,

windowless room,

one bed sits,

centered on the cold tile floor

Thoughts of hopelessness

and a cup of pills

retreat to the cave of my mind,

forget all the thrills

gatekeepers stand guard

But my spirit, wild and free,

Won’t sleep forever, no she’ll rise

And become keeper of me
